The pandemic has changed the relationship with our homes and now, more than ever, we want to transform them and make them ours as much as possible. Of course, this desire has influenced our shopping behaviour increasing the amount of money we spend on our homes.

However, it has been shown that online consumers also abandon their baskets quite often giving life to the so-called phenomenon of ‘fantasy homeware shopping’ which is identified as filling up a basket/cart and not buying anything at the end.

Our founder has given Stylist her insights on the matter explaining our motivations behind “fantasy homeware shopping”. A possible explanation is that, as she explains, “We all have an ideal self; the future version of ourselves and the life we are aiming at… Quite often, fantasy shopping is done by our ideal self rather than our actual self. It allows us to understand where we are versus ‘the dream’ and what we might need to do to get there.” Fantasy homeware shopping, however, can also be motivated by our willingness to please others.
